Work is progressing well on site and, with the good weather that we are currently experiencing, the new car park should be completed in time for the students returning to school for their autumn term. The new wearing course (the final top layer) is being laid and the car parking bays can then be marked out so that staff and visitors are able to park on the site.
We realise that the movement of heavy vehicles over the summer holiday period has been disruptive to neighbouring properties and we would like to thank all of the local residents and sports centre users for being so patient.
There is lots of activity on site at the moment and while the front car park is being finished the contractor is preparing the ground for the new sixth form building. The majority of the reduced level dig has been formed in preparation for the foundations for the new building.
What’s happening next? Over the next few weeks you will see:
• Completion of the new car park at the front of the school.
• New barriers to enable school coaches to park alongside the main entrance to the school.
• Completion of the reduced level dig for the sixth form and excavation for the new foundations.
• Reduced level dig for the science block extension.
