Formation of Site Levels
If you have passed the school during the summer holiday period you will have noticed a lot of activity along the front of the school. Trenches for underground services and drainage are being dug and some of the pipes are being laid. A new temporary car park has been created for staff and visitors, for use during the construction of the new sixth form building, and the front car park is being extended and re-surfaced. Some of the planings from the car park have been used as a base for the temporary car park to reduce waste leaving the site.
The one-way system to enter and leave the site has now been reversed, the hedge removed and a new visibility splay formed to enable drivers to leave the site safely. Drivers will also be able to see children standing at the puffin crossing waiting to cross the road.
One week ago we discovered that the existing car park had no proper road base below the surface and the school is now going to have a complete new car park at the front of the school, which the contractor (RG Spiller) is aiming to still complete before the school come back in the Autumn Term. Lets hope that the weather stays nice for the next few weeks.
There is a lot of movement of heavy vehicles at the moment and we would like to thank all the local residents and sports centre users for being so patient whilst the car park work is being completed. We, and the main contractor, have also visited residents facing the school to discuss the progress of the works and answer any queries.
Whilst the car park works are being carried out a temporary footpath has been provided for sports centre users.
What’s happening next?
Over the next few weeks you will see:
