MRA, in conjunction with contractor ROK, designed an inspirational building that will encourage learning and teaching. Seven new teaching rooms and an IT suite are now available for use by the school and community of Wiveliscombe. Study using IT is firmly established at the heart of the school. Low energy use and sustainable construction qualifies the building for a BREEAM for Schools rating of Very Good. The double height ICT suite at the centre of the plan brings daylight to all the surrounding spaces. The central atrium passive stack ventilation ensures that all the rooms receive comfort heating, fresh air and daylight, making this a bright and uplifting place to study. A striking canopy was requested, which adds drama and draws attention to the entrance for community users.
