St Mary Magdalene is a beautiful Grade I listed building which extends a warm welcome to the local community and is busy every day of the week. Following a recent refurbishment, and to mark the 700th anniversary of the creation of the Parish of St Mary Magdalene, the church wished to improve the attraction of the entrance area at the West Door. Creating an inner porch with new glass doors enables the local community to see the beauty of the interior of the Church as they approach from Hammet Street, and enhances the welcome provided by facilitating easy access for wheelchair and pushchair users. The inner porch also provides some protection against the draughts that come into the Church from the West Door, and reduces the heat loss from the building.
